17 months old!!

Spring has sprung for our little girl! Adelaide would care to spend every waking hour outside, thankyouverymuch. Just about first thing in the morning she's pointing out the window to her basketball hoop or the slide borrowed from neighbors. She'll spend countless moments drawing with sidewalk chalk on the back patio or digging around in our overgrown flower beds.

Just today Adelaide willingly "walked" (with assistance) more than she ever has. Usually she'll just curl up her legs and crawl if you try to help her walk. Today, we focused on "going places" and that seemed to help. We "walked" to G-ma at her house, we "walked" to the books, we "walked" to the bath, etc. Very exciting stuff! She'll get the hang of it one of these days!

We're definitely entering some defiant toddler days. Adelaide says "nah" quite often. Just a few weeks ago, almost every question was greeted with a "yep!" I've quickly learned to rephrase my conversation into statements or options instead of open-ended questions.

We're still enjoying our time at Kindermusik each week, but think we'll take a break from it this summer. There are so many other things to do around here in the warm weather. And I suppose we have just another month or two of book babies by the book... something we'll be sad about leaving! We've been trying out the toddler storytime more and more and getting adjusted to the differing format. We've also been frequenting parks quite a bit. Adelaide loves to swing, but she really loves to crawl up onto the big kid toys! The neighbors have offered use of their sandbox and picnic table and we need to get out and get dirty to enjoy it one of these days!

Eating seems to ebb and flow. Some days she's hungry and some days she's not. Some days she talks about ice cream repeatedly. She still loves fruit and most of the time, veggies. She helped G-ma plant some of her early crop a few weeks back and enjoyed digging in the black dirt. I'm anxious for the farmers' market to open this week so we can start taking advantage of the local produce! Looks like our plans for a garden are on-hold until possibly next year. We weren't even certain of our property lines until people started mowing their lawns! I have some space next to the garage that I'd like to use, but right now there are bushes, irises and miscellaneous other greenery there that needs to be moved.
