a (belated) birthday

A little late, but things have been a little crazy around here. Louisa had a great -- we think -- first birthday celebration. Can't believe this tiny munchkin has been a part of our family for over a year now! Wow! We love her so!

Lou got a sandbox for her birthday! And a water table. The joys of a summer birthday. Both girls love playing together with them. It was HOT, HOT, HOT for her actual birthday, as it has been for so many days lately. We got some outside time in nice and early and then stayed indoors most of the rest of the day.

We celebrated with cake before dinner, because that's what you get to do when you're one!

Lou knew exactly what to do. Unfortunately, the cake wasn't the best I've ever made. I think she forgives me.

She also pretty much knew what to do with gift opening.

And we wrapped up the day with Dada serenading her with one of her new songs... see the slideshow below for those.

This past week Lou has been sick -- fever for three days. Now a rash and still feeling bleh. Both girls were in bed before 7 tonight. Crazy! Hoping everyone feels more like themselves tomorrow.
