22 months

Wow. Our "baby" girl is fast approaching two. She's in the habit of telling folks when asked, that's she's "1" with her index finger shoved happily in the air, so we'll have to work on what comes next one of these days. Adelaide continues to amaze and delight us. She's full of joy most every day and really, every minute. She loves dancing, listening to music, doing finger plays such as "Little Teapot," playing with her cars and reading books (potty books from the library are in heavy rotation right now). We're back in Kindermusik after a hiatus this summer, and she's loving it. Friends Mason and Ben are enrolled too, and she talks about them the entire way to class. She loves spending time outside blowing bubbles, playing with water, watching the "New Porch!," watching the wind blow and laughing at Ilsa.

They say it isn't bragging if it's true, but still we're amazed that she started singing "Twinkle, Twinkle" earlier this week. And just today she busted out with the entire Alphabet Song while in the car on the way home from lunch with G'ma. She's constantly talking about friends and what they do and don't do (Henry wears diapers. No, Henry doesn't wear diapers. Hi-ya likes popcorn, etc.) She's a sharp one, that's for sure. She picks up on ANYTHING we say, so we're trying to be extra careful. She and Dada love making up songs, most recently "Happy Happy Hippo."

Today while volunteering with children of homeless teens, I held a baby girl who is now eight weeks old, but was born 10 weeks premature. She's smaller, I think, than when Adelaide was born. I can't believe how quickly the time passes. They're so helpless in one moment, and then the next, so helpful. I think Ellen told me they just keep getting better -- more fun -- and she's right. I love the babe stage, but I'm loving every second with Miss A right now.
